~Just Because~

Late afternoon yesterday while standing in my kitchen I turned and saw this pretty reflection on the wall in my dining I ran for my camera...just because!
I'm loving the way everything looks against the new wall color.
I got the kitchen painted yesterday and once the hole in the family room wall is repaired I'll move on and paint that room.
Hope your all having a great week!

A little of this and a little of that...

Hey there friends...Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Still not much I can do around here until the floors are finished but I did manage to work on a few projects this week!
Kitchen floors were finished last weekend and all my appliances were put back including the center island. While the granite top was off I had my cousin add these pretty wood corbels to the island and then I painted them black.
LOVE the look!!
I also worked on getting my bar stools painted...
I loved the walnut color they were but they started to get pretty beat kids sit here all the time to do home just to hang out.

AFTER...using my Maison Blanche paint in Wrought Iron. I had just enough left in the can to get these done:-)
I distressed the seat area and all around the edges.

Next up...painted the dining room. I went  lighter...the new color is Cornice Tan by Ben. Moore but I had the formula cut in half.
This color is going to go throughout the whole first floor and upstairs hallway.
Now that the floors are laid in here I can freshen up all the white below the chair rail.
This weekend they finished up the dining room most of the hallway and completed my power room and put it back together...DEFINITE PROGRESS:-)
I'll be painting this week....what will you be up to?

Last weekend one of our local wine bars was hosting a Cocktail and Canvas girlfriend sent me a text and asked if I wanted to go with her...why was a pleasure leaving all the mess going on here for a few hours!
Look you even get a peek at the new hardwood in our kitchen:-)
One room down four more to go!!
I NEVER painted anything on canvas before...what do you think?!?
The artist who ran this had a painting already picked out and we all painted the same thing...she showed us what to do step by step and we followed along.
When it came time to paint the labels we could do whatever we wanted so I added things that had special meaning to kiddos initials...the year we got married...and our anniversary.
Not bad for my first painting...we had a blast and will definitely be doing it again...
the Appetizers and Prosecco they served was a plus too;-)

Wooden Cabinet for the Master Bath

 Hi all!!
I've been wanting to replace the cabinet in our Master Bath "potty" room for some time now...and the other day while walking the aisles of Home Goods I spotted this pretty wooden one.
Now this isn't its original color...I painted it in AS Versailles the same color I used on my antique chest here
It's original color was red...we all know I love red... it just wouldn't work in our Master Bath.
Here's the Before...

Love the shutter doors...but they were NOT fun to paint!!

I really like the way it looks in it's new color...I think Versailles is becoming one of my favorite AS colors!
Here's a little peek of it hanging up...
I want to repaint our Master Bath and make some minor changes...then I'll give you a full tour.
Thanks for stopping by!!

Flooring Progress

Hey there pretty pictures today...just an update to show you how far we got with our flooring renovation project.
Last weekend my cousin and his crew started the  demolition of our flooring! They took all the appliances out of my kitchen and even removed our center island...which now has a home in our dining room...and was able to remove all the tile and sub-floor.
Notice anything else that was removed??

Remember this half wall we had that separated the breakfast area from the family's gone! Now it's just one big open space!
Much better!

I was able to remove all the plastic they had up to block off the family room...all the cutting will be done outside now.
They moved the electrical switches and outlet along with my central vacuum connection over to this wall.
They're even adding an outlet in the floor for me over happy about that...I love having an outlet in the floor.
This weekend they told me the flooring in here will be done and my appliances and island installed back in and this wall should be patched.
On Sunday they're going to rip out the old hardwood in my dining room.
Hopefully I'll be able to paint this room next week and get it cleaned and back in order!
Here's a little peek of something pretty I'm working on while all this mess is going on downstairs.
Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Out with the Old in with the New!

Hey there friends...hope you all had a great weekend!
As I mentioned in my last post this January marked 11 years for us in this house.
Many changes have been made in the last 11 years to make this home reflect more of our own style. This past weekend another renovation got's something we've been thinking about for a while now.
Three years ago we ripped out the carpeting in our family room and replaced it with this beautiful Brazilian Koa hardwood. We love it so much we decided to add it throughout the whole first floor!!

It's working its way all the way into our powder room.

I'm lucky to have a cousin who's a contractor and will be doing the work for us!
He's a perfectionist so I know the job will get done right!
This front sitting room/study is the only room downstairs that we aren't adding it too.
We just replaced the carpeting in here 2 years ago and I really like it...I also like the cozy feel it gives the room.
Sorry... by the time I thought to take a better picture... this room was already jam packed with furniture from the other rooms!!
This is going to be a big and messy job and I know it's going to take at least a month to be complete being he's only working here on the weekends...but I'm going to be thrilled with the results!!
I can't wait to see these boxes get opened!!
I'll keep you all posted on the progress:)
Thanks so much for stopping by!
