A New Look for an Old Piece

This is the piece that I gave you guy's a little peak of in my last post. I found this at a garage sale right before Christmas on my way to drop Toby off at the groomers. The man sold it to me for $20! It's been sitting in our garage ever since (way to dirty to bring in the house)!! So after deciding on the perfect color I got to it, and I have to say I love how it turned out and love this color. AS Aubusson Blue.

Here's a Before after I washed the whole thing down with Murphy 's Oil soap. The chest was missing one of the handles on the top so I removed them both, filled in the holes and added two new knobs. I really think my hubby thought I was losing it when I brought this one home;)

And here's the after. I love the patina the dark wax adds!

The draws where pretty plain so I glued these appliques on them.

I love the look it added.

Decided to leave the top part stained.

Original hardware just cleaned it up a bit.

One more before and after, I just love how this piece turned out!

I'll be back with another post to show you the vignette.

After working on this piece most of Saturday, here is what I found when I walked into the family room.
I guess Victoria got tired of waiting for her mama!

      * My GIVEAWAY ends tonight at midnight*

Wonderful transformation, Martina! I can see why you suggested that blue to me for my dresser. The appliques were the perfect touch, too. They really changed the look of the front.

This turned out beautiful. So far, I have not liked anything that I have done in the Aubusson blue, and have re-done all of it. I loved it in the store, and I love your piece, so I don't know what my deal is? Great deal on the chest also!

I really like how that turned out. It has much more personality with it's new color. Your daughter looks so sweet sleeping there. She reminds me of my son . Mine has done that before and then I felt guilty.
